About Us

Welcome to the Stirling University Law Society website.
The society holds academic, social and fundraising events throughout the year which we encourage all of our members to come along to and get involved in. We invite any LLB and BA students or any students with an interest in law to get involved in the society and meet some new people while getting valuable advice on your course and available career paths.

What We DO
Academic
As a society, we have a duty to promote learning and knowledge. Therefore, we attempt to schedule as many academic events as possible. These are often either networking events or guest speaker workshops.
Social
We organise tonnes of social events throughout the year. Some of our annual highlights include, Christmas Dinner, regular socials, and Law Ball. On top of this we have regular socials accessible for all students whenever we can.
Career
We have a privileged position as a society with our links to law schools, organisations and employers. We seek to provide our members with opportunities to learn and gain professional skills. If you are an organisation who wishes to work with our society follow the link below.
Advice
We are a society for law students by law students. We are always happy to help and guide anyone looking for support in their studies. Becoming a member will grant you access to more support services, and to our Stirling Silks buddy system, where we pair 3rd and 4th years with 1st and 2yrs to 'mentor' them during their time at the university.
Opportunities
Being a member of the Law Society comes with a myriad of opportunities, chief among them being access to mooting opportunities, a weekly study group, and our newly introduced Stirling Silks programme.

Mooting
Mooting is a vital and critical skill all budding and aspiring lawyers must possess. Although daunting , mooting involves learning how to formulate arguments and counter-arguments in controlled environments (such as courts of law). Students will eventually be exposed to mooting in assessment at university (such as the common second year moot), and the Law Society therefore encourages all members to gain hands-on experience with mooting early on.
Guided by our incredible team, members will grow in confidence, build greater critical thinking and analytical skills, and eventually, learn how to 'think' like a lawyer. Interested? Apply below!

Study Groups
Struggling with a legal concept? Feeling isolated, alone and with no one to turn to? The Law Society and its committee members are all too familiar with feelings of discomfort, isolation, and fear. We have therefore decided to create weekly study groups which are available for students in each year group and FREE OF CHARGE.
Each session will be spearheaded by a committee member with a passion/drive for the specific subject (ie. contract law), allowing members to come in, ask questions, and feel supported during their time at university. Want to join?
A study group schedule will be published ASAP.
